Acila and John
In these current middle ages, I a Cuman Mongol, Borujin Acilaldai. A scholar on the road, tossed abroad of the land of her birth these last twelve years, with her stories granting her the privileges of the road. I work to be worthy of the sword and strong bow I bear and draw them to feed and defend my kin and defeat those against them. Taking great care and heart in the fletching of my arrows and care of my blade, they have always flown before me swift and true. My arrow and my sword landed here, along with my heart, on the isle of the dragon who sleeps. As is fitting, I have found my home here, in the people for whom I have come to care about a great deal.
In present times I am A.d.i., a seamstress, leather-smith, musician, and the mother of a precocious 6 year old by the name of Alexander. I am an avid fencer and have studied, practiced, and shared the Art of Defense, light and heavy, for nearly all my twelve years in the society, earning me my AoA and the Cypher of the Queen of Atenveldt. I have often helped to autocrat events and I believe that one best leads by service. Helping anyone I can given the opportunity, my greatest personal wish is to see everyone have the chance to explore their potential in the arts and sciences of their choice. To see them encouraged and rewarded for their efforts, and to watch in turn, as those good folk encourage and reward those around them. How about you John?
Me? Of course I am best known as a campfire fiddler, singing his way from camp to camp, sharing stories late into the night and enjoying the company of friends. By day, I'm more often than not found either slinging a sword on the field or throwing my hands in to help out in the kitchen. I have an AoA and I am very active in the rapier community. Having led many a rapier battle on Great North Eastern fields and those of Pennsic, I have also earned membership in the OSR.
Today I am a musician and choir director, and I work mainly with volunteers because of how very dedicated they tend to be. I also have a young son, Raffi, who is my pride and joy. The wish that I have, that I believe we all share, is to grow our game here in Montreal.
Together, John and I hope and work for the chance to share our good arms and happy hearts, and we want to find and help others to do the same.
It is in this desire that we present ourselves to you as candidates for the Coronet. We have heard much from all of you and believe, from what you have shared with us, that we all have a shared vision. To this end, we have developed a plan over the last four months to help our barony get to where we want to be. We have actively sought to clarify how we accomplish this vision and believe that the plan we have in hand can do this. As you read the vision that we have drawn please know that while we have a plan, we want to carefully consider the thoughts and suggestions that you may have, and eagerly await your input. With that said, I invite you to share our vision. We believe that fostering dedication to the many facets of medieval culture is key to our growth as a barony and community. Within the richness of our medieval tapestry we can rediscover the excitement and enjoyment that we have all been seeking. Combat and Pageantry are the warp and weft of that enjoyment. In that vein we wish to unify the endeavors of both our Arts and Sciences folk and our Warriors in the common motivation of war.
In light of the importance of actions that lead toward this unity, it is just and right that achievements in all areas should be praised. By highlighting all those whose passions lead them to accomplishment on and off the field, we not only lift up an individual strand, but the example of their deeds that actively weave the whole of our barony more tightly together.
In service to the dream and vision that we all share,
John and Acila
