Our Events

Events are held throughout the year. Most summer events are camping events that last two or three days, while most winter events are one-day affairs. Some are focussed more on fighting, fencing or archery, others on arts and sciences. Most will end in a court, followed by a feast.

The only requirement for attending an event is an attempt at pre-17th Century clothing. There is loaner clothing for those who wish to participate but have nothing suitable to wear.

Those attending feast should bring their own place settings.

IDD Arts & Sciences Championship - March 3rd, 2012

PART 1: A&S Regalia

All thosewho have had the opportunity to see the Arts & Sciences Champion baldric from up close, will agree that it does not represent the talent of our Barony’s artisans. I, along with the A&S Officer and our dear Baron and Baroness, am putting forward a call for regalia submissions.

Although the current award is in the form of a baldric, all designs and concepts are welcome. The only two mandatory criteria are that our Barony’s colours and/or populace badge be somehow integrated in your submission and that it is unisex (could be worn by a woman or a man).

The Baron and Baroness will be picking their favourite submission which will then become the new Arts & Sciences Champion award.

Once the winning regalia has been chosen, its creation will be (if possible) a group project made during our biweekly A&S nights.

The deadline for this submission is November 30th, 2011.

Please note that you only need to submit the description of your regalia, accompanied by drawings and whatever other document you wish to submit, not the actual creation.

Points will be awarded on baronial representation, creativity, feasibility as a group project, and authenticity (up to 20 points). A 5 point bonus will be given to the chosen regalia.

PART 2: Classes

Part two will award points according to participation in A&S classes from now until February 29th, 2012. Any person who attends a class an event, schola, workshop, A&S night or specialized class at practice can earn 1 point per class up to a maximum of 2 points per day. Anyone who teaches a class following the same guidelines as attending a class will be awarded 5 points.

All participants must report their points to Éliane (amlozier@rogers.com) within 48 hours of attending/teaching the class for them to be considered valid.

PART 3: Baronial Display

Participants will need to display any item made for either Dragon Dormant or Tir Mara. This item needs to be something made within the last 3 years and may be something done as a part of a group. Participants working with a partner or group will be assigned the same points regardless to who did the most work on the project.

Points will be awarded on usefulness, creativity, baronial representation, and quality of work (up to 20 points).

PART 4: A&S Championship Display

Participants will submit an item of their choice for judging and feedback from a panel of guest judges. The item will be judged on usefulness, complexity, quality of work, creativity, and authenticity with a possible 5 points being assigned to each area (up to 25 points).

Participants can also earn a maximum of 5 bonus points if they submit accompanying documentation with their personal submissions.
