Fall Harvest / Northern Shores Regional
Rapier Championship / Brewing Collegium (Brew-U)
Saturday, October 18th, 2008 - Verchères,
QC - Directions
9:00am - 10:00pm
Hear yea! Hear yea!
Come one, come all, be you from one of the many far away shires or baronies
of the knowne worlde, or one of our very own citizens of the sleeping dragon,
the Baronie of l'ile du Dragon Dormant is opening its doors to help celebrate
the 23rd annual Fall Harvest on Saturday, October 18th, 2008, at the Centre
Communautaire de Verchères, in Verchères, Québec.
The event will be a multi-faceted affair, and will feature the Northern
Shores Regional Rapier Championship from the morning leading into the afternoon,
and will be run by the current and exiting Champion, Don Cosmano. Letters of
intent will be required, and must be received by no later than October 10th. Send
all intents to: cosmano@wolfstar.ca.
The Baronial Championship of Rattan will also be taking place under the
watchful eye of our current champion Lord Angus McHaley. All fighters are encouraged
to come out and to participate, however only the top fighter from within the
Barony will be declared the Baronial champion for the coming year.
During the afternoon, a Brewer's Schola (“Brew-U”) will take place,
with classes involving some of the most reputable brewer/vintners of our land,
teaching the finer points of this craft. A small and friendly potables "contest" will
be taking place as well, so feel free to bring samples of your finest works and
have others tell you how good they are! For those not in the brewing/vintner
mood, dance classes will be offered.
The evening shall be heralded by a three remove feast, themed on the
harvest of the season, and will be crafted by our very own Mistress Hawise. Please
contact her regarding allergies or food restrictions. The feast will be
immediately followed by reveling (dancing, bardic activities) as we celebrate
the warmth of our autumn fires and the fine company of our many friends from
near and afar.
Site is handicap accessible. Closed flame lanterns are permitted (no open
flames allowed!). Site is DAMP (BYOB = beer and wine/mead allowed). There
is NO day-board for this event. Please make appropriate arrangements for
lunches (there are restaurants and a grocery store walking distance from the
site.)
Please come back to this page for
the latest news and updates, and information regarding tournament formats,
